Super Parenting Powers

As Moms, we often dwell on the things we think we are not succeeding at in parenting. We don’t give ourselves enough credit. Will my toddler develop ADHD because I let him watch an hour of TV a day? That’s my latest fear. So I decided it’s time to throw out those doubts and focus on the success! I need to be a confident mom in order to raise a healthy and confident child.

Moms, Start your own “Super Parenting Powers” List. One a day is all it takes to start focusing on the little things we do everyday. These should be known as your Super Parenting Powers!
Here is my current “Super Parenting Powers” List:

1. I feel successful when I have fed the dog, the baby, and myself each morning.

2. Success is super high when I have had sex with my husband at least 2 x in a week.

3. I feel successful when I have taken a shower in the morning.

4. I am a super parent when I have gone to the gym or worked out in some way at least 1 x in a week.

5. I feel successful when Tucker has not eaten any crap in a day (i.e. cookies, chips, etc.)

6. I feel completely awesome when I don’t use the TV as a babysitter at all in a day.

7. I am ecstatic when I get out of the house with Tucker and go somewhere besides the grocery store or Target.

8. I feel like June Cleaver when I actually cook a new dinner, or cook any dinner.

9. I am so happy when I don’t spend any extra money or buy anything we don’t truly need in a day.

10. I feel like a super model when I have eaten healthy all day long!

Some of these might seem silly to other moms, but to me, each one of them makes me feel powerful when accomplished. By writing them down. I can easily remember and reflect on the things that make me feel good. When I feel good, I parent better. I am happier, which means everyone around me is happier. Things like #2 — Having sex with my husband, might seem like something that I personally can put off because I am tired or lazy, but I know it makes me feel successful, it makes my husband very happy, me pretty happy too, and so therefore it is a Super Parenting Power. Happy parents are the best kind of parents. I try to reflect as much as possible.

Acting Audition Advice – Prepare Your Self to Be a Super Model

An acting audition is an important part of any actor’s career, and could mean the difference between landing the job or not. Here are a few tips that you should always follow in your acting auditions.

Even the most seasoned actor may find themselves nervous at their audition, but this is completely natural. If you have been invited to the audition based on your resume then you will be able to practice the ‘sides’ they send you for the audition, meaning a few pages of script. You may also need to practice a monologue if auditioning for theatre. Preparation here really will help to calm some of your nerves.

When preparing for your audition read the script as carefully as you can. Think about the character that you are going to play – where are they from, how old are they, what is their relationship with the other characters? It is probably best to start answering these questions before you even think about learning your lines. This is the best way to really get the best out of your acting audition.

When you arrive ready to do your best you should probably warm up. This will include vocal exercises and perhaps some stretches – whatever works for you. You can also use this as a final opportunity to brush up on your lines.

As well as being prepared for the acting, you also want to make sure you look the part. You can choose to wear clothes that match the character as well as the story to make your role even more convincing. Though there is no need to go overboard for this.

Once you have arrived you will probably have to wait around for a while after signing in. Try to stay focused rather than chatting with everyone else who is there waiting like you.

The process once your audition starts will depend on the specific casting director. They may want to talk with you, or they may want to start the reading right away. Once you get started imagine that you are in a true performance, and this will show through. This is your one chance, so it is important you really convince the casting directors that you are the only one for this part.

Just make sure that you act like yourself. There is no point in sucking up to the director as this will be extremely obvious. So long as you are professional and polite you should do well. Respect the space as well, even if you do lose yourself in the part! Once you have finished thank them for giving you the chance, and the director will let you know when to expect hear from them.

If the acting audition was successful then you will be asked back, and will be watched by perhaps more people. You should put in the same performance to increase your chances. Keep a record of all the auditions you take, and always ask yourself how you can keep improving. Remember, everyone gets knocked back but the more auditions you do the better you will become!

Ace That Modeling Audition – Be the Super Model

Any audition can be a scary event, whether this is for modeling, acting or any other job. If you have recently landed yourself a modeling audition then congratulations! Here is a quick guide on how to really shine in your audition and get that job.

Every model needs to believe in themselves. It is always important to have an air of confidence about you when you enter that room. If you do, the employer will surely notice and realize you are something different – which is a good thing!

To win the audition you will need to show that you are worthy, that you have talent. However, the word ‘talent’ in itself is extremely relative, and can depend on exactly what you are good at. No matter what it is that you are good at, make sure that this comes across in your audition. If you are good and carrying yourself show them that, if you are confident let it shine. Just be you, and show them exactly why they need you. It is a great idea to think of something that can differentiate you from all the others who are being auditioned, and who you will have to beat.

Beyond talent your modeling audition will definitely involve looks. This will be specific to what you are modeling for, as each different job could require a different look. Do a little research into this before arriving for the audition to get it just right on the day. Your audition will likely come down to your looks, your talent and also that one thing that sets you apart – what makes you ‘you’.

Never approach your audition with the attitude that you are the best and that you will definitely get the job. Even if you are great, there is still always fierce competition out there and nobody likes anyone who is too sure of themselves in the audition. By all means be confident, but don’t act as if they have already chosen you.

On the other hand, if you feel extremely nervous and under-confident, remember that it is a combination of factors that will win this audition for you. Your personality is what they are really looking to see, and if you can let this show through you will be in with a great shot at getting the job. Just go in there with the right attitude, and remember that everybody gets nervous.

Modeling auditions can be extremely different depending on what you are auditioning for and the individual requirements. However, the above points can easily be adapted to most situations. Just make sure that you do a little preparation beforehand, thinking about what they are looking for and what you can show them about yourself that nobody else in that audition will have. The thing that sets you apart will probably be the thing that gets you the job above all other applicants. And if you are unsuccessful, keep trying and you will only get better. Good luck!
